That's the cloud's own gravity. Areas where it becomes denser due to the cloud's movement (induced by external forces, I think) will have strong enough gravity to overcome the gas pressure to get the process started.

I believe it's the combined gravitational force of all the particles which causes the cloud to collapse upon itself. Even the smallest object does have a gravitational pull.

Not only am I confused about where this gravity comes from(and No! baryonic matter does not fit the bill) but also where these supposed winds are coming from?
