Amazing! I have two curtas (one is a demo unit) and I know how magical they are to hold and use. Really glad that someone is making it exist again for more people to experience.

Really nice job, Jerry. I'm planning to make a start on the Curta, but will try the larger scale version first.

I am currently printing and building a curta at 2.1 - I used mainly 66% scale. for the shafts I use 63% scale for the diameter ( printed flat ) and 66% for the lenth. And I used X-Y hole compensation : 0.1 in orca slicer to increase clearance in holes.
I also modified the ten bearings to include printed springs. not completely tested yet, if successfull I will publish it on thingiverse. but he spring properties will depend on PLA and printer anyway.

Fabulous achievement Jerry. You can clearly see how experienced you are in producing such precision mechanical parts. And the finishing is absolutely amazing. I've seen quite a few videos on the Curta calculator tonight (the full documentary by Chris Staecker is wonderful), but I especially like this version you created from the original 3x model. May I ask what was the diameter of the smallest rods on this smaller model that you 3D printed?

This is incredible! Are you interested in taking commissions on these?

Beautiful, is it possible to buy one? Also to be assembled.

Beautiful work! How much of an advantage would a resin printer such as Form 4 be? I wonder if more of the parts could be printed ready to use and reduce finish work.

I have an urge to make a 2:1 one using 0.3 mm nozzles because 3:1 is way too big. I have RIDGA clone gears and 0.9 degree motors so printer accuracy isn't a problem, but damn this thing looks hard to make

Are there any files available for the Curta to download

Size matters! 😂 Nice job! How many hours did you put in this one?

Would it work to make the transmission shafts have a hexagonal cross section? Then they would be easier to print. The only place where they need to be circular is where they pass through the bearing plate and the main casting.

How did you do the polishing. Do you need the lathe and other non 3DP machines?

Which printer model did you use to create the various pieces of this smaller model? Thank's
