The Irulars and Kattunaykkars are indigenous groups with rich cultural heritage especially when it comes to music.
Geographically and culturally they live at the fringes of Kerala - at Kerala-Tamil Nädu and Kerala-Karnataka borders.
Music and dance are very much part of their lives - they perform these during birth, death, rituals, livelihood activities and so on. This workshop was led by members of both communities aimed to raise awareness and appreciation for their culture by providing an immersive and interactive experience for participants.
This workshop was conducted by ABC programme and Facilitated by the Archival Research Project (ARPO) an organisation which works to promote Kerala's pluralistic cultural heritage.
Thank you Faizal and Shabana Foundation for supporting the ABC project.
