Porsche 911 GT2 RS sets production car lap record at Road America – David Donohue onboard camera

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS has set a new production car lap record at Road America, completing the 6.5 km road course with its 14 turns and multiple elevation changes in just 2:15,17 minutes. 24 Hours of Daytona and Le Mans class winner David Donohue took to the wheel of the 911 GT2 RS in favorable weather conditions and only needed two laps to do so, underscoring not just the track capability, but also the approachability of the car.

177 mph on the straight, and then slams onto the brakes into an 80 mph turn. Don't underestimate how difficult it is to control a car doing that, and yet this GT2RS handles it like it's no big deal. No rattles. No squeaks. Lap after lap after lap of engineering perfection.

I am very used to motorsports, racing, karting, sim racing and what not. For some reason, this onboard gave me the feeling that this car was being pushed into a nanometer of it's limits! It was awesome, yet terrifying!

Road America is one of the greatest race tracks in the US in my opinion. My family has a lot of history with the track and has always loved Porsche. Thank you Porsche for setting a record with an absolute beast of a car that will always be remembered.

Porsche is so dominant they come out of retirement, win LeMans a bunch of times. Then before retiring the car they use it to set a few track records faster than F1. Then ho-hum, lets take last years car and go smash some more records. Two laps later down goes Road America. Of course. They have an unfair advantage. They are Porsche.

Hey Porsche Team! Could you please record stereo 180 video for VR users to be able to feel the speed? It's quite cheap, look at Vuze VR 3D 360
or Lucid Camera or something else.
ps. It must be stereo! Not just 180 or 360, but stereo - the way you really could feel what's going on.

Best car money can buy alongside the the 720s... although they were made for different purposes. But my choice would be without doubt the GT2RS... with the MR kit.
