Long-time collaborators Marc Kiss, Thomtree and Crystal Rock display their flair for fresh and distinctive remixes, this time reimagining the classic 1995 Faithless track ‘Insomnia’.

This take on ‘Insomnia’ gets straight to the point, beginning immediately with that iconic synth riff we’ve all come to instantly recognise and love. But then we are taken on a voyage of discovery as the hook transforms into a galloping, ascending build up before exploding into a grooving, bass heavy breakdown as the hook is chopped and distorted alongside smashing synths and live drums.

The production then strips back, with only a single layer of shimmering synths remaining before that familiar hook can once again be heard, slowly increasing in volume and pitch before one again reaching a pinnacle and breaking down into the dynamic drop.

The three Germans have collaborated many times, becoming recognised for their remixing talents. Crystal Rock and Marc Kiss have put their take on the MKTO track ‘Classic’, gaining 3 million Spotify streams. Crystal Rock has also added his flair to the Masked Wolf hit ‘Astronaut In The Ocean’, alongside Felix Schorn, converting the track into a deep and moody banger with 14 million streams.

Thomtree is known for his unusual remix choices, transforming The Cure’s 1992 indie hit ‘Friday I’m In Love’ into a celebration of Electro House vigour.

‘Insomnia’ may be the boldest remix the three have taken on so far. They manage to put a fresh and individual spin on an instantly recognisable classic, which has been reworked many times. They escape falling into the trap of becoming predictable and totally reimagine the track whilst retaining the euphoric power which made the original such a lasting staple in the electronic scene.
