ROUTER
* WiFi 6 router preferred.
* Separate the 5 Ghz and 2.4Ghz WiFi. Pico 4 will use the 5Ghz network. Turn off 5Ghz from your home network if possible.
* Set the router to the best channel (use the WifiAnalyzer app to look for the least congested channel).

* WiFi Mode:
- WiFi 6 router: 11ac/ax
- WiFi 5 router: 11 a/n/ac

* Bandwidth: 80MHz (Pico 4 cannot use 160 MHz)
* Network mode: Access Point

Tip: Keep the WiFi router as close to your Pico 4 as possible.

STREAMING
* Bitrate: 75-100 Mbps (Not much difference between 100 and 150)
* SSW: Off
* Video buffering: Off (if lots of frame drops, turn on)

SETTINGS
* Environment Quality: Low
* Frame Rate: 60 FPS
* Desktop bitrate: 30 Mbps

PERFORMANCE OVERLAY
Game: Time taken for your PC to generate the image
Encoding: Time taken to compress the image
Networking: Time taken from your PC to your headset
Decoding: Time taken to uncompress the image

Tip: Click both thumb-sticks at the same time to view the overlay
Tip: Test different quality settings and in-game quality settings to get the right balance between performance and quality.

My router was maxing out its CPU on the new H264+ encoding, switching my router from router mode to access point mode changed my experience from unplayable to perfect, thank you very much

Thank you very much for this video. I've been searching for specific information for hours, and I finally came across it here. Short, clear, and to the point.

Just wanted to thank you so much for this video. No joke (and as amateur as this may sound) I couldn’t for the life of me find any followable way to split a router in order to optimize my spendy gear for vr with VD. This was so clear, concise and helpful. You made my year lol. Thank you!!

For me it the game changer was my 2.4/5GHz wifi and thanks to this video i noticed it often connected to the 2.4GHz and not using the 5GHz, seperated the wifis. Works like a charm (y)

I tried out the desktop mobile hotspot trick and it does work very well with my experience for airlink. I just need to get better wifi antenna for my PC to get a line of sight for the quest 2. :)

Video buffering will add to smoothness to wireless streaming and generally advised by VD to keep on as the latency difference would be minimal and stop any network introduced frame drops

I don't feel like I truly need less latency, but I'll play around with the settings a bit. If I could turn down bitrate to 100 and fix things up a bit by changing a few settings, it could make for a nice improvement. Turning in some games does feel a bit off, so perhaps this may fix that issue (it's not a dealbreaker, just very slight).

And if you hold the menu button on the left controller for a few seconds, you can get back to the VD settings menu. I didn't know this for a while

Get a 6 ghz access point for your Quest 3. It's pure magic and gets 0 interference from any other signals in your area since it doesn't penetrate walls.
