If you're going bottomless in the Amazon, you deserve it.

A fish that eats nuts, something I never thought I'd learn

Fun fact: The place where Pacu bite off men’s testicles was New Guinea, where they’re an invasive species.

Lesson: Don't go skinny-dipping with Pacu's!

My ex and I did some fishy-sitting for a friend's Pacu while they moved. Millie the Pacu was only @6" long when we first received her and put her in our 40 gallon.

We fed Millie what our friends gave us and she grew and grew. We asked periodically for them to take her back, but to no avail.

It got to the point where Millie was about as long as the tank was wide. The tank was maybe 3 - 4 Millie lengths long. We had to be careful not to startle Millie or she'd splash water everywhere - which was sometimes unfortunate for whoever happened to be sitting on the couch nearby. 😅

The "breaking point" came when I came home after work one day to find that Millie had smashed the thermometer and was chewing on the laminated paper.

We gave our friends one last chance to take Millie back. They decided they didn't want her anymore, so we rehomed her to someone with an enormous tank.

The end. And I'm so glad I never found out how strong those teeth were... lol.

I used to have 6 of them in a 300 gallon aquarium along with 2 Red Tail Cats, 2 LMB's, a monster Green Sunfish and 2 Tiger Oscars (Albino and a Black)... nobody fought each other and everyone had ample space, oxygen, water quality, food and peace and harmony in their tanks environment... had them 2 years and then had to get rid of them for a big move.

I remember watching river monsters doing an episode of the pacu!

Looks like I’m staying away from bodies of water in South America. As if caimans, anacondas, giant otters, and jaguars weren’t already deterring me lol

We had a pacu that was given to us and it grew so big, we ended up giving it to another friend that had a big outdoor pond out back . I could not believe how big he got, but he was really cool!

Nice to see DNA on point with his topics. This follows a video of 2 guys catching a Pacu from a college pond the other day.

Let’s not mention the fact that their nostrils look like a bunch of crazy eyes

I knew a guy that owned several of these in a huge habitat, they were the size of a large pizza and extremely food driven

You didn’t need to bring such terrible trauma into this

That’s disgusting
