Very interesting! Had never heard about this story until recently. Got me excited to watch the movie coming out soon and maybe even read this translation one day!

I’ve been anticipating this. Tolkien does a expert job of putting it into modern English with the alliteration and end rhyme. It’s fun to compare it to the orignal Middle English Sir Gawayne and the Grene Knight, which if you have A Middle English Reader & Vocabulary by Sisam and Tolkien, it has some excerpts of the poem.
Great video!

This is interesting. I've been thinking about checking out some of his translations. His translation of Beowulf specifically intrigues me since I feel like the way battles are handled in Lord of the Rings is kind of similar to how things go down in Beowulf (I've read Beowulf before, just not his version).
