The one thing you never skimp on when building a house is proper drainage! Do it right the first time so you never have to do it again.

We also wrap our foundation drains and tiles in filter fabric so mud and crap doesn't plug the holes.

Awesome tip with the caution tape. I'm so sick of chewing through mystery pipes/wires by surprise. Will implement this in my irrigation set-up I'm digging out right now. Thanks for a good one!

Alot of folks giving grief over this non carpentry related vid. I thank you for involving us in your projects, wether they be about woodwork, or otherwise!

You need to have two separate drain systems. One for your foundation and one for your downspouts. Every time it rains the water from your downspout will flood your foundation with a lot of extra water from your roof. At a minim I would tie them together down stream from the house. I don't want you to have problems after all your hard work.
Thanks for all the great videos.

The Samurai Carpenter laying pipe. Maybe there's a plumber cutting wood somewhere on Youtube.

I wish all carpenters did work like you do. I hate when I start finding all the short cut others have taken. good work

A possibly better way may have been to mould it into the existing pipe using a heat gun. I've used this method to mould plastic piping to alternative diameters and it works great.

As a pipe fitter, when you're burying plastic pipe, it's always good to string a wire along side, so you can detect it exactly before excavating. Just use a metal detector. You can buy coated tracer wire for a good price. You don't have to lay it the whole length, if you trying to save money. You can do 6f on 6f off, when you get to a change in direction, put it all along that bend though. You could use coated scrap speaker wire if you're in a real pinch, any coated wire will do.

Some of your ideas are brilliant... Let me just leave it there.

Pipe is embedded in sand to prevent stone/ rock damaging pipe normally being moved with frost. I don, t suppose you get much frost in BC coastal area.

Before you completly cover up your drain pipes add plenty of upright clean out Ys along the drain lines. You' ll be glad if you need to clean them out in the future. They make it easy to inspect and/or flush out your lines with the garden hose if necessary.

how do you connect your bleeders to a possible interior drain tile that would drain to a sump crock if your exterior drain tile is below the footer?

You need a Fernco {spelling} fitting to couple dis similar pipes together, prob 10bucks at The Home D spot.

Isnt that line going to freeze? It looks only a foot deep!

Odd to see a footing at or just below grade in Canada. Victoria must be a lot warmer than NS,

I've done that before, used a mapp gas to heat the pipe untill malleable, stuff it in, then heated it again and stuffed it so the pipe was tight against the old pipe, left it for a while then took out the stuffing, and bingo a tight fit with no leaks.

Good video and explaining one thing I would say would be helpful would be a diagram of the actual footing, slab and drain pipe location. I understood everything cause I I've done it before but would think people who've never built a house won't know exactly what youz talkin bout

How come you didn't wrap the pipes in filter fabric?
