So many “Christian songs” today just talk about what you’re going through with just a dab of the word “God” in them.
The old hymns talked more about sin and death and blood and cross and sacrificial love. So much of today’s church is really shallow. That’s partially why people don’t have strength in the Lord these days in the face of such minimal trials vs. what believers in the past were up against. Believers were burned at the stake singin FB “A mighty fortress is our God”
Takes the focus off of self and puts it on our Lord who alone defeats Satan, sin, and death which are way bigger enemies than what we feel.
