The UNBEATABLE New 2024 BMW X4! The Best Sportback SUV!

Despite the SUV offering for 2024 looking nothing short of spectacular, the 2024 BMW X4 is still one of the favourite, and here’s why…

Overview
The BMW X4 is the smallest in the brand's fastback SUV lineup, positioned below the X6. Despite sharing most parts with the traditional-looking X3, the X4 sacrifices rear-seat headroom and cargo space for its sleek design.BMW will retain both four-cylinder and six-cylinder engine choices, all featuring standard all-wheel drive. The lineup will start with the base X4 xDrive30i and progress to the X4 M40i.

Thanks to BMW continually focusing on drivability across the whole range, the X4 is definitely one of the favored SUVs for pure driving pleasure, after all, it is an ‘ultimate driving machine’...
However, although the new X4 is good, it faces stiff competition such as the Mercedes-Benz's GLC Coupe which has been freshly redesigned for 2024, offering improved tech and styling throughout. Also, let’s not forget to mention Audi's Q5 Sportback also enters the scene with smooth styling and similar powertrain choices.

Engine, Drivetrain, and Performance
The 2024 BMW X4 comes with two distinct engines, each with their own list of pros and cons.

The base model xDrive30i features a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces a pretty respectable 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels through BMW's reliable eight-speed automatic gearbox. You can expect to reach 60mph from a standstill in around 6 seconds, which is pretty quick for a base model.
This engine delivers a great balance of power and efficiency, with quick torque response and minimal turbo lag. This makes the X4 well-suited for both city and highway driving.

On the other hand, the more spicy M40i boasts an entirely different level of performance with its supercharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. This B58 engine generates 382 horsepower, 369 pound-feet of torque and would have no issues getting you to 60mph in 4.4 seconds. The top speed is limited to just 130mph, although when equipped with performance tires, the top speed limit of the M40i increases to 155 mph.
Regardless of the destination, a good supply of available power always ensures an enjoyable journey. While a rear-wheel-drive X4 exists, all X4 models come standard with all-wheel drive.

The design
The standout feature of the BMW X4 is its striking coupe-like look. The 2024 version of the X4 looks impressive by anyone’s standards. But its sleek, sloped roofline does reduce cargo space and rear headroom.
The base model comes equipped with 19-inch Y-spoke Ferric Grey wheels, privacy glass, heated power-folding side mirrors, chrome tailpipe finishers, and satin aluminum exterior trim.

The M40i boasts a more aggressive appearance, thanks to its aerodynamic body kit and Shadowline exterior trim.
This option features a black chrome kidney frame and air breather inlay. Sporty 19-inch M Y-spoke bi-color Midnight Grey wheels complement its dynamic design.

And for an extra $200, you can opt for the M 50th-anniversary emblem collection to enhance your M40i's appeal. I mean, if you’re paying more, you’d want other drivers to know this. Spoiler alert, the faster model costs more…

The Interior
The luxurious X4 interior showcases minimalist technology at its finest. The sleek, modern floating touchscreen and the central stack's design add a real touch of class.

While the 2024 X4 is practical, it offers only 35.5 inches of rear legroom. 1.7 inches less than the GLC, and 2.8 inches less than the Q5…
Unfortunately cargo space is also a trade-off with the X4. When all seats are upright, it provides a 19-cubic-foot cargo capacity; however, folding the rear seats expands it to 51 cubic feet, beating the GLC’s 49.4 cubic feet but falling short of the Q5’s 54.1 cubic feet.
The standard features of the base model X4 include an HD radio and a 12-speaker sound system. Notably, it also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which quite frankly, we would expect these days. The infotainment system boasts a 12.3-inch display panel with integrated navigation.

Comfort, Safety, and Convenience
The BMW X4 offers a range of features and options to enhance your driving experience.
While the Head-Up Display is optional, the Navigation System comes as a standard feature, ensuring you can easily find your way.
Steering Wheel Audio Controls provide convenient access to your entertainment while on the road, and the Power Liftgate simplifies loading and unloading.

Power Mirrors, Air Conditioning (A/C), and Climate Control are all included as standard, contributing to a comfortable driving environment. While Cooled Front and Rear Seats are not available, you can enjoy Heated Front and Rear Seats as optional additions for added warmth during colder weather.

I do like the X4, the X6 is a bit big and cumbersome. The X4 just looks way better too

The internal dash and instrument screen still looks like the older models. It would have been better if it had ten new updated interior like the new X1s have.

I found it amusing that a change of wheels would increase the speed.130 mph is fine with me. I like most people do exceed the speed limit at time, however I would never drive at 130 or 150 mph. That would be for the Audubon or a local track! I stay away from the most dangerous areas of merging traffic. I do not plan to drive anyone in the back seat. it is just for me.
