Russian Empire, 1838

And old Russian romantic song, written by the officer of the Marine Infantry A. Molchanov, and arranged by the composer Nikolaj Devitte. It was extremely popular in the mid-19th century, after which it was forgotten, but experienced a “rebirth” in the 1900s, entering the repertoire of Shalyapin and many other famous singers. At this point, an aristocratic urban romance became better known as a Cossack song, in connection with which many considered it to be folk-written (even the Bug River from the original lyrics was replaced by the Don). The song has many different variations, but all of them tell about the heavy share of a person who understands that he will not be destined to return home. In this video, the romance is performed by the "Kazachij Krug" ("Cossack Circle") ensemble.

Portrayed by an old Don Cossack with his horse and the landscapes of the river Don at his background.

LYRICS:

Сорвёшь цвѣтокъ, а онъ завянетъ;

A song has never made me cry before.
By the time I was listening to this one’s final verse, I was crying from the stomach.

I am taking Russian Language lessons online, I do a little every day since I started. it will be 54 days in the morning. It's well different. It's coming along, not easy but I like it and well when you want to do something they it not a chore, sort of like fly fishing, I picked up a fly rod when I was 8 nobody around fished that way and well it was frustrating yet I stuck with it and well I am almost 65 now, I figure maybe a year or two and I just might not embarrass myself too much ordering a meal in a Good St Peterburg Resturant, It's on my bucket list, Along with going to a little town on the Volga.

the song becomes so much more beautiful when you read the lyrics... there's a somber melancholic feel to it that's very moving :)

An uncomfortable feeling can be had from this song as Pascha season is here for some, around the way for others. Not for them.

Sorry guys, this is a traditional ethnic anti-war song, not right or left.
