You aren't afraid of heights and heights alone. You are scared of falling from them. Same goes for being afraid of the dark. You're not afraid of the dark itself, you are scared of what's in it.

Edit: Yes, I know you can be truly afraid of heights and the dark alone. I made this so people don’t walk around saying they have Acrophobia when being scared of FALLING from high places is not Acrophobia.

i would do exactly zero of these things, not because it scares me, but because hanging one handed off a height is just stupid. or relying on a piece of rope to keep me snuggled to a cliff face. nah im good.

It's literally inside your brain and a reaction from your eyes to be afraid or get away from high ledges. It's biology. Climbers just get addicted to the adrenaline so get passed that.


A natural reaction to danger and not wanting to die is not having a phobia.
