Pilot wrestles strong crosswind at Edinburgh during Storm Eowyn!

The pilots of Ryanair flight FR1018 (from Budapest) were forced to go-around on their first approach into Edinburgh airport this morning, however made a decent landing second time around considering the conditions. As you can see, they "crabbed" the aircraft down just above the runway before bringing the nose back to the centerline.

what a crazy experience this was. me and my boyfriend were on this flight returning from budapest, never thought it would take off tbh.
We were both so scared as this has never happened to neither of us, and added to the fact that it was my boyfriend’s 2nd time abroad ever.
I’m glad we’re safe and everyone else on that flight, the pilots did an amazing job!

Right behind this flight was a Ryan air flight from Bratislava. It had to go around twice and then diverted to Stansted. Well done to these pilots for landing but I was surprised they were in the air!

Scary stuff. I watched a few planes on flight radar trying to land at Edinburgh & Glasgow this morning. One landed & 2 were diverted to Manchester after circling. Great all safe 🙏
