I'm an EV enthusiast who now thinks Musk has made his brand so toxic all EV channels should actively boycott Tesla. The man wants to overthrow elected governments in Europe and is actively supporting far-right racists. You have to draw a line somewhere. There comes a point where the politics is so blatantly evil and divisive that it cannot be brushed aside.

The "Energy density" question for CAR batteries is now shifting more to the PACK.... AND the *CHASSIS* efficiency.
CATL have now shifted much of their effort to a modular fully integrated Chassis system (Skate) Which they intend to sell as an adaptable base for Vehicle manufacturers (INCLUDING small companies and niche applications)
here's when you insert the "It's been done before!!!" But this is going to be LARGE scale, FULLY produced in house as a "Plug and play" unit with all systems included.
THIS is going to improve the ... let's call it "Base Module" or "Rolling Chassis" power to weight efficiency.
I Highly recommend taking a look (I saw an article by a SIngaporean "New Tech" Channel today, I imagine there's similar on the CATL website)

I (somewhat) disagree when Eliot said "China innovated so
They STARTED "innovating" (Planning) in the early 90's
(BYD, 1994, etc)
Their lead grew because *Nobody took real notice or respected their ability*
We saw exactly the same reaction in 2006 to a publication which started "Between you and me" and ended "Don't tell anyone" (If you know, you know. Otherwise, not TOO difficult to figure out?) THEN the "sleepers" woke up and started the campaign to discredit those concerned.... Too late.

List of technologies that will drive EVs in 2025
1.. 1Mw charger For trucks and buses (Maybe even a car)
2.Swap battery.Even though cars and trucks
3.Welion Semi solid battery
4. 900V-1.000v Battery architecture
5. 600kw charger by use ccs port.
7.BYD 2nd generation blade battery.
8.Sodium ion batteries for cheap cars.
9. Hybrid sodium+lfp battery . CATL .

Given that VW is already €200B (! ! !) in debt, I'd say don't underestimate their ability to continue selling ICE vehicles, to impressionable worzels, while going even further into debt for another decade yet.

Most ppl still think an EV is a car with ⚡ motors, when in reality the EV co's like Tesla shifted the paradigm, to a super fast intelligent AI computer with wheels. Legacy autos' competencies are worthless in this new world. 2nd thing they don't get. EV are much cheaper to drive. I own rooftop solar, it cost me 1/2 the $ to fuel my EV, even after all the govt subsidies to ⛽.

Do a calculation of what sort of amperage the grid must supply to charge a car in a very short time. Then calculate how many amps if all the bays are charging cars at this rate.

Super fast charging, imho, will appear and then disappear once ranges of 600 miles is average. 99% of people stop after 300 miles, and everyone else after 400miles. You'll stop to pee and stretch and get a coffee. 20-30 mins disappears when you do these things. You'll plug in and go do something else. It's a stupidly small fraction of a percent that needs to do more than 600 miles and not stop for 30-40 mins.

The Fully Charged Show is just an ev infomercial - every new ev, no matter how bad, is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It seems that Chinese public charging is about as naff as that of Europe. Look at all the huge 5 m long, 2.5 T ev's coming out of China - try driving one of them up the ramps of a European multi-storey car park. Best of luck. And what's the use of 800 V architecture, blah, blah, blah, when most public chargers deliver 22 KW and anything decent costs €1 per kW. Sorry, spin doesn't count. It's high time the EVangelists told the truth or these issues will never be solved. I own an ev and have driven in excess of 60, 000 km in the sodding thing. Give me decent range, decent handling and decent infrastructure.
