As with all GM full-size lines, the De Ville was completely redesigned for 1971. The new GM full-size bodies, at 64.3 inches front shoulder room and 63.4 inches rear shoulder room, set a record for interior width that would not be matched by any car until the full-size GM rear-wheel-drive models of the early to mid-1990's. Pairs of individually housed squared-off headlamps were set wider apart. The V-shaped grille had an eggcrate style insert and was protected by massive vertical guards framing a rectangular license plate indentation. A wide hood with full-length windsplints, a prominent center crease and hidden windshield wipers was seen. A Cadillac crest decorated the nose and new indicator lamps appeared atop each front fender. Horizontal beltline molding ran from behind the front wheel housing, almost to the rear, stopping where an elliptical bulge in the body came to a point and where thin rectangular side markers were placed above and below the chrome strip. The rear wheel openings were again housed in fender skirts. The standard V8 engine remained the 472 cubic inch. The base price of this two door Coupe DeVille stood at $ 6,264 and this is 1 of 66,081 copies. What a stellar like new example this is ! Thanks for viewing.

Beautiful car!!! A friend of mine had one that color, and a canoe paddle in the back seat. He called the car his " banana boat". I had a 1970 Sedan DeVille in green. I miss that car .

Very nice example from the last series of pre oil embargo Cadillacs. What comes to mind is a remark an uncle made years ago about driving one of these on a long trip- “I made a lot of stops to fill the gas tank. “

Good Morning 55lincoln, What a gorgeous Cadillac.
Everything I like about this car.
The bould big grill, twin headlights, colour, interior, wheels.
A well looked after 53 year old car that is a time capsule.
Popular TV shows are this period had gorgeous cars similar to this car, Boss Hogg had a convertible Cadillac in Dukes of Hazard but think that maybe a little later.
In 1972 my boss had the Australian equivalent, Holden Statesman Caprice.
This as the title says, Statesman, was popular with politicians, managing directors, and high profile people.
Our Australian equivalent was designed by General Motors, Cadillac division for Australia.
It was also sold in New Zealand as the Chevrolet Caprice.
Back to this car, taillights are extremely similar to our Australian example of that period.
This was when cars were cars.
Big, powerful, chrome bumpers, and room for a party.
Thanks for your video

Big, bold and beautiful. Only Cadillac could still get away with fins at the time, even if toned-down. I remember being highly annoyed that the traditional V under the crest was absent from the ‘70 and ‘71 models. Fortunately, it returned for 1972.

I have a friend who had a 72 with no vinyl top, and the interior wasn't this fancy.
