Finding Implied Main Idea | Reading Strategies for Better Comprehension Skills

Показать описание
The implied main idea is not clearly stated in any one sentence in the passage, but it is always there. You just can't take your finger and point at it or take a highlighter and highlight it. The implied main idea comes together in your head based on the clues the author gives you.

When you find implied main idea, you make an inference and synthesize information.

In this lesson, you will learn the difference between explicit and implied main idea, strategies for finding the implied main idea, and you'll have the opportunity to read practice passages and find the implied main idea.

I am still very confused with the implied main idea. If I have to use my own, imagined words to form the main idea, than the clarify of communication is compromised. I could imagine a very different main idea than the 'implied' one. Does no one else have problem arriving at the 'gist of it' safely??

how can you determine implicit/implied main ideas in a poem? in texts such as books or articles, its very easy. the language used in poems and the lack of information can make it very challenging.
