Why I Bought GoPro HD Hero3 Black Edition

Which GoPro HD Hero 3 should I buy? There is a white, silver and black model and the black model is definitely the one that you want to buy if you're upgrading from a GoPro HD Hero 2. The HD Hero 2 is already a great camera that I own and love. The only incentive for me to upgrade would be 60 FPS at 1080P instead of the 30FPS at 1080P that I get currently with my GoPro HD Hero 2. Only the GoPro HD Hero3 Black is 60 FPS at 1080P. The GoPro HD Hero3 White and GoPro HD Hero3 Silver are both only 30FPS. I'd say Go with GoPro HD Hero3 White if you're a new owner and want to save money. Go GoPro HD Hero3 Black if you're upgrading. Otherwise, you'll pretty much just be getting a smaller form-factor and will have to buy new batteries and memory cards for minimal performance gain. I love GoPro and plan to get a Black soon! Not a bad price at all for the 32 gig! The 16 gig class 10 microSD that I bought from NewEgg cost a little over ten dollars US but came with both a memory stick and full-sized SD card for downloading to a computer.

@krusher74 I have a high end iMac 27 inch but aside from tgat most folks don't have televisions that support geyond 1080P. The Black is personally worth it to me for the 60 FPS at 1080P as opposed to the 30 FPS that the other models offer. It makes re-timed videos look much more clear.

is the microphone in that camera good enough to record sounds that come out of a Marshall guitar (or any other brand) box ? Camera is sure good to film in HD but not sure about the recorded sound. Could there be external mics be connected to it if wanted ?

is there a 3d hero system for the Hero 3? Does the white and silver editions shoot as good as the black edition in low light?

I pre-ordered mine directly from GoPro day after launch and it has not yet shipped. Blacked Edition is expected to ship around mid-November to my knowledge.

@lolskix Im only aware of 3d system for hero 2. Black trumps them all in low light on paper at least.
