I'm from Iowa. Here is a little known fact. They don't Let you dig. If it washes up to the Surface you're allowed To pick it up. That's it. Unless you know somebody who knows somebody you're looking at hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines for trying to dig something up. At least that's what the police told me when they told me to leave

I have a chunk of rib and pelvic bone from a mastodon it was found in Orange County, NY, when they were building interstate 84.
