Savannah Painting Tutorial: Step-by-Step Acrylic Painting for Beginners

Materials Used:
Canvas: Stretched Cotton Canvas (8x10 inches)
Acrylic Paints:
Phthalo Blue
Cobalt Blue
Titanium White
Purple
Orange
Mid-Yellow
Lamp Black
Brushes and Tools:
Flat Brush (1.5” & 1/2")
Detailing Brush (000)
Fan Brush
Liner Brush
Basic Instructions:
Background:
Squeeze out drops of Phthalo Blue, Cobalt Blue, Titanium White, Purple, and Orange at the top of the canvas.
Using a wet flat brush, blend the colors in horizontal strokes from the bottom to the top, keeping the brush wet for smooth transitions. Add yellow where needed to enhance the background.
Land Area:
Once the background is dry, use Lamp Black and a small flat brush to paint the land area.
Trees and Vegetation:
Use a detailing brush to paint tree trunks and branches. With a fan brush, add leaves and bushes using soft, random strokes for a natural look.
Elephants:
Sketch the outline of an elephant with a liner brush and fill it in. Add a baby elephant holding its mother's tail for a lively touch.
Finishing Touches:
Add flying birds in the sky with varying shapes using a liner brush.
Tips for Success:
Use a soft touch when blending colors.
Gradually add colors like yellow to control intensity.
Vary the pressure and angle of your brush to create broad-leaved trees.
Ensure the sizes of objects are proportionate to the landscape.
