As someone who’s been in and out the medical system for years I’d agree with this heavily. I had a liver transplant when i was 14, and got put on a various amount of medication to take long term afterwards - the side effects from most of the meds where absolutely unbearable. I did the dodgy thing and took matters into my own hands, weened myself off the steroids and antibiotics they had prescribed me, but continued to take the anti rejection drug.. I was absolutely fine! I’m one of the only transplant recipients in my country who doesn’t take those nasty meds, and it’s been 4 years now.

I remember my doctor telling me to my face, he wasn't permitted to solicit preventative blood work, since the insurance companies mandate it contractually to save costs. I knew I had cancer 7 years before discovery, and basically had to beg for a diagnosis. These symptoms were shown to multiple doctors who never offered exploratory diagnostic bloodwork until I was showing severe symptoms of malignancy. Be vigilant. This industry rewards companies to keep you sick and coming back for more.
