Jute Twine is a Versatile Tinder for Making Fire #shorts

I have almost made up my mind to replace #36 bank line in my pack with 4mm jute. It is strong, biodegradable, and it is an excellent tinder. I use jute to assist in igniting damp or marginal tinders, and as a stand alone tinder when everything is wet. It is easily ignited with a ferro rod. I’m a hobbyist when it comes to survival, bushcraft, and fire making. I like to experiment and practice with all types of fire making materials in many different ways. Yes. I have several lighters. But using them . . . ain’t no fun. #fire #camping

jute is a wonderful tinder, very versatile and cheap. It is my go-to and I add it to all my kits to ensure I have dry tinder available at hand always.

I took quarter inch jute and soak it in wax to make tinder matches. You fluff up the end and then it essentially works as a waterproof match but it has a much larger slow burning flame so it’s much easier to light in inclement conditions

Is there a certain type of metal you’re supposed to use on the Flint if you don’t have a striker ? I’m using my knife no an spark it’s just shaving the metal off but I use a striker then it workers perfectly ?
