Genesis Never Said the Serpent Was Satan—Until It Did

Most people assume the serpent in the Garden of Eden was Satan. But what if I told you… Genesis never actually says that? Not directly. Not at first. And that one oversight has sparked centuries of confusion.

In this investigative teaching, we go line by line—through Hebrew words like nachash, theological contrasts from Moses’ writings, and Jesus’ own words in the Gospel of John—to trace the true identity of the serpent. And when we finally land in Revelation… the whole story snaps into place.

This isn’t mythology. It’s a layered revelation hiding in plain sight. And once you see it—you won’t be able to unsee it.

Want to go deeper? Grab a copy of my book God's Garden-where I explore this serpent in far more depth and trace the full narrative arc of Eden, deception, and divine justice through the rest of Scripture. It's a must-read if you're serious about Bible study.

Not "The Devil Made Me Do It,"
But "The Serpent That Shattered Eden,"
But "Who Was the Talking Snake REALLY?"
But "The First Lie in Human History,"
But "Unmasking Satan's First Appearance in the Bible,"
But "I Read Genesis 3 in Hebrew… You Won't Believe What I Found,"
But "Was Satan Ever Named in Genesis?"
But "From Eden to Revelation: The Rise and Fall of the Serpent."

This isn't a milk teaching-but meat! One that exposes spiritual deception with Hebrew word studies, season with truth. This is Biblical Elucidation, where we go beyond the surface and let Scripture speak for itself.

So good. I thought you would mention how it is also known in witchcraft that they go in and out of animals as well, but I am thankful for your other points. So good to have someone answering my questions lol. Glory to God! Thank you.

Thank you Pastor. Back in middle school in the '60's I had a teacher state that snakes or some of them still have the identifying marks of where legs used to be.

I agree with you but at the same time this is not what I expect you to say, you didn't bring any new information. The Bible is full of symbols I thought you was going to say the snake was a Representative of the seraphim some traditions, seraphim are also known as "Akyəst, " which translates to "serpents" or "dragons". This makes sense since the Angels gave man forbidden technology and knowledge

In Hebrew nakhash / נחש means both a snake and a "winding / obsessional idea or thought". Compare with the modern use of the verb nikhesh / ניחש – to guess. That is Eve literally "wound or twisted herself into" tresspassing the God's Command.

Jesus also says "be as wise as a serpent and harmless as dove". So is Jesus telling us to be like the serpent? The serpent in the garden could talk and did tell the truth that Adam and Eve would become like Gods by eating from the tree and that is what happened. Adam and Eve gained knowledge and God got all bent out of shape and decided to punish them and all of their offspring because Adam ate a piece of fruit. Does the punishment fit the crime?
