You shouldn't treat your viewers as idiots

It is impressive. It's also impressive how much harder you slammed the other bits in as well.

The forstner bit, you were wobbling all the way through using crazy pressure. The wood owl bit you even slowed at the back side to allow a cleaner pass through. Don't start being biased please.

The only one he didn’t push through at the end. 😂

Forstner bits are designed for reducing blowouts and tear outs. That’s the intended purpose of that bit. Even twist drill bits doesn’t make blowout if used with care and proper technique. Even these owl bits may also can create blowout if it is forced through the wood or used with wrong techniques. Don’t blame the tools if you can’t use them with the right technique.

I’d like to see the wood owl bit being forced. It would be a more accurate comparison

I feel you put higher pressure while drilling the first 2. That may or may not have had an impact on how much the wood tore out the back.

Infomercial voice: Tired of drill bits ruining your wood!? Oh, no, this wood is ruined! Well now there’s the wood owl bit! It’s the same as every other bit but you just don’t put all your weight behind it and it works like magic!

Lot more pressure on the first 2 and you sure did a lot of rocking on that second one.

Next time use a drill press when testing different bits. You were applying a lot pressure on the first two bits to achieve a more dramatic outcome.

I do alot of hardware I feel like it's time I let this little secret out. You don't need an expensive drill bit to prevent tear out all you have to do is. Drill, half way through your material bring the drill bit out and let any shavings come out then drill again. It will prevent your material tearing out. I sometimes even bring the drill bit out a few times not just once. I promise you your material won't tear out. Try it.

To really test it you should’ve tested it by having it closer to the other hole just as you did for the second hole if it’s any good it can drill clean even if super close to another opening with thin walls

Thank you all the people who posted comments. I was going to run to Lowes to return all my wood boring bit and replace it with Wood Owl. But, thanks to you guys, i figured out that technique is more important than brank tools and fake ads that try to dupe unsuspecting DIY'ers like my self.

You sold it by cautiously drilling that hole. The first two were pushed through with force, thereby causing the blowout

Last I checked, this was called using the right tool for the job.

As always i have learned yet another wood working tool to buy.... Thank you... Serious that is wowing !!

I'd just use a bit I have and clamp a backing piece to the backside. No tear-out...

That is amazing, I'm getting these

For the regular bit, pilot a hole first with a smaller bit and go from both sides.

For the Forstner bit go until you see the point just start to poke through and finish from the other side.

Use what you have before you spend more than you need on specialty equipment. Good tools are helpful but a good craftsman uses technique and not just name brand gadgets.
