Carlos Alcaraz takes on Stefanos Tsitsipas in Round 3 of the 2021 US Open.

The 2021 US Open main draw runs from August 30 - September 12 in New York City at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The tournament takes place for the 141st time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Dominic Thiem is the men’s singles defending champion but has withdrawn following an injury. Naomi Osaka is the women’s singles defending champion and will be aiming to claim the title for the third time in four years. Meanwhile, No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic looks to complete the calendar Grand Slam after winning the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon already this year. Should the Serbian lift the title here for the fifth time, he will also overtake Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to become the first-ever man to win 21 Grand Slam singles titles. With full capacity crowds back again, it’s time for the greatest return!

I had no words to describe to see 18-year-old Spaniard after a crazy match against world no.3 Stefanos Tsitsipas. Carlos Alcaraz was young, his forehand was powerful and well deserved into 4th round 👏

I watched only the end of the 5th set... I can tell you, never seen such a monstrous display like this from a 18-year-old in such a dramatic moment of The match. Alcaraz was hitting the ball with unreal strenght and precision, man thats just epic to have such a courage, calmness and agressiveness under so much pressure against a 3 ranked player in the world. Just glorious.

Tsitsipas after the match: "I've never seen someone hit the ball so hard ... He can be a contender for Grand Slam titles." I think this shows how special Alcaraz is. He really hits some of the most powerful forehands the world has seen. And he's not one-dimensional, his game is great in other aspects, on clay and hard, he's mentally strong, with a predatory mindset.

Man, Carlos is special but this was EXTRA special. A Tsitsipas win is not easy to get, it is earned; well earned.

Reminds of someone from Spain with the same fighting spirit back in 2005 🔥🔥

Love his aggressive style of play. He's not afraid to come to the net. He plays beyond his years. Well earned win for the young Spaniard. And great to see all the crowd support he received in NY!

this was indeed a wild match... I feel like it's a crime to have a highlights this long for this incredible match.. an 8 minute would have been fine... :-)

I hope this tournament will be a lesson for Tsitsipas. He needs to realise that disrespect will break you in sport and that it’s wiser to have people rooting for you than against you. Well played Carlos, you deserved it!

He is a future number 1, multiple grand slam winner. He’s got it all and am so excited to see him evolve and develop, felt like this when I saw a young Rafa start out. You just knew he was destined for great things. Vamos

This guy is the next big thing of all the young players. Breakthrough tournament. I don't think I've ever seen a player this young slug it out and win a full 5-setter!
