In Black Myth’s TRUE ENDING, when you defeat the Great Sage and the old monkey picks up his headband to place it on The Destined One’s head, an animation starts showing the story of Wukong in reverse.

In this cutscene, we see Erlang taunting Wukong that even though he attains Buddhahood, he will always be a slave to the celestial court due to his headband. Sun Wukong then replies to him that he will “Rip it off and break free!”

The cutscene ends with Wukong giving a final toast before raiding the celestial palace, which ultimately leads to him being imprisoned by the gods and the events of the prologue of the game.

This ending differs from the normal ending because The Destined One, unlocked Sun Wukong’s memory and inherited his pursuit for both free will and enlightenment by rejecting the golden headband that is meant to nerf him to be subservient to the celestial court. Even though this path eventually leads to the loop of death and reincarnation. For him, it's free will, no matter how many lifetimes it takes.

lol loop of reincarnation happens in the other ending, in this ending he gains all of sages memory and is ready to fight the heavens again, thats what the final scene in memory shows where is makes a toast to all of his dead comrades before going to fight the heavens ( dont confuse it with the first time he revolted against the heaven as the og wukong as all his comrades weren't dead at that time, so it makes no sense to show them dead if it was the old memory) .

The neat thing is you don't have to beat the game to get the secret ending. I never got the original ending. I opened all the secret areas and won, and then when I got to Ch. 6, I went back to Ch. 3 and then to Mt. Mei, and was able to go into the mural to fight Erlang. What a fight! But it was worth it after I beat the OG and then that old monkey tried to enslave me again and Wu's eyes opened and he was, undoubtedly, like naw pimp we not finna do that again.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But isnt his mind the final relic? And Wukong's memories were locked inside the crown, the crown was passed down to Tripitaka by the Master of The Temple.
Wukong was also framed by another demon 500 yrs before he was revived.
The Old Monkey even says "Some say that he died.. "Some say that he achieved Buddhahood..None can be sure for certain."

You should've said "before he put the headband". The headband is wukong's curse. With the destined one finally having wukong's memories, he can stop elder monkey from putting the headband.
