I commiserate with the DHL challenges. My mail-order medication provider has contracted with them this year, and sometimes my orders sit for weeks in a warehouse before being sent to me. Who knew the journey from California to NM was so long! The oldest fountain pen I still own is a Cross - chrome with a black grip section and a small, fine nib. I have no other information about it. Originally it used cartridges, and was a booger to clean when I found it last year (I think I've had it at least 50 years, but maybe not). I used it when I wrote to my then boyfriend, who was overseas. I rediscovered the fun and joy of writing with fountain pens 18 months ago, when a friend sent me a Hong Dian. Since then, the rabbit hole is deep and twisty, and my collection grows. Thanks for another great show.

My First Fountain Pen was just 3 years ago. It was a Waterman Allure Chrome (F) I got in the bargain bin at Staples. I found myself taking it apart to see how it worked in the first day and use it mostly for writing our family stories down for my grandson. This started me on looking for other pens with different filling systems to see how they work and learning how to replace sacs. My everyday carry for work is A Lamy Safari (F) that I keep filled with Noodlers Heart of Darkness.
Thank you for the show.

Hi Brian and Lisa! Found your YouTube channel just recently and I enjoy it so much, it brings some kind of peacefulness. My first and longest possession fountain pen was a Parker (about 15 years), I do not remember what model, but it was given to me as a gift for my gramfather, who used home made nibs (out of bamboo) and copied the bible with calligraphy onto leather made books. I was a teen when he gave it to me and I lost it in one of my many relocations. But handwriting became a close to heart thing for me since.

Great Show! The first fountain pen I ever owned was an Omas Bologna in red bought 20 years ago. I still have it.

I received a lovely Parker Duofold Centennial as a gift in 1989 when I rotated off the board of directors of a company. I had casually mentioned that I wanted to improve my handwriting and the chairman remembered that and gave me my Duofold. I have two pictures my wife took of me using the pen 34 years apart in the same setting. I am old and gray, but the pen still looks brand new. It is a lovely wet and smooth writer that I treasure (my wife of 53 years is even more lovely). Does she still have the gun aimed at me? ;)

Another great show!

Longest-held fountain pen: it's actually a pair of Scheaffers I bought in college in the mid-80s. I don't know the model. They're cartridge-filler demonstrators, one red and one plain so I could take notes in two colors. I do recall having to stop fairly often to clear paper fibers from between the tines. At the time, I paid $2.50 each, even then that wasn't bad on a college budget.

In high school I had a Traveler's fountain pen and loved it. It's gone missing somehow. I've replaced it since but still wish I had that one.

My oldest fountain pens are a pair of Watermans that I found in a desk drawer about a year ago. They are both cartridge pens and it took me awhile to get them cleaned out. I think my brother must have given them to me sometime in the 1990s, but I really don't remember where they came from. One of these days, I'll fill a cartridge with a syringe and take one of them for a spin. I always look forward to your videos. Thanks.

The pen I have had the longest is my Pilot Decimo in light blue. My dear Betsie gave it to me in 2015 or so. It is a treasure for sure. Thanks for the show you two. Always nice to see you.

At the risk of giving away my advancing years, the pen I have owned the longest is a grey/green striated Montblanc 142. The 142 designation is stamped into the piston twist mechanism at the bottom of the pen rather than around the cap band. It’s unusual these days too for having Montblanc Masterpiece engraved on the cap rather than the Meisterstück designation we are so familiar with today. The pen dates to the early 1950s, and it is said that this closeness to end of WWII hostilities is the reason that Montblanc opted to use the English translation of Meisterstück in offshore markets for a period of time. It has a two-tone, 14k, fine nib. The ink reservoir gave up the ghost some 10 years ago but the good folks at Montblanc took the pen back and returned it to me as good as new in just a few weeks. I can’t speak highly enough of the manufacturer’s repair service, they do an awesome job. The pen is no longer in my regular rotation but it does get used. I like to bring it out once in a while and put it through its paces.

My oldest pen is a 19 58 Sheaffer Lady in Gold Paisley finish. A very dear friend of mine received the pen when she graduated from high school. She used it exclusively through all of her years of college and wrote her PhD thesis in Clinical Psychology Research with this pen. The section is a little small for me, but I still am very fond of the pen and use it about once a year.

The first fountain pen was a Sheaffer that had a red plastic body and metal cap. It used their cartridges. I was a kid and no longer have that. My first pen as an adult was a Pelikan M200 Amber demonstrator I bought from Richard Binder in 2008. I still have it. It’s what really kicked off my fountain pen collection.

the fountain pen I've owned the longest is a Parker Vector that I bought with my paper route money when I was a kid around 1980. It is in pieces, though. The plastic degraded to a crumbly mess. Of functional pens, I've had my Rotring Core for 24 years.

The fountain pen I've had the longest and, honestly, one of my least used is a bright red Sheaffer cartridge pen of some sort, has a chrome cap and medium nib. It came in a set with a mechanical pencil in a plastic gift box. It is, however, the pen that got me into this rabbit hole because I asked on twitter about cleaning it and got several helpful comments. I found it in a local antique shop in late 2022.

My first fountain pen in highschool was a Pilot V-Pen (Varsity) in 1986, ad that's what I used for a few years until I couldn't find them anymore.

My first real fountain pen was a Parker 45(?) Flighter in Stainless Steel (from the mid 80s). I still have and use it. I like the half-hooded nib (M) and the touch of the brushed steel. And the best thing about it is that you can use the sharp top edge of the cap to punch holes in your paper which are the perfect size for putting the paper in a ring binder. I have used this extensively at school because I did not have to bring a hole puncher :-). Thanks for the great show as every week. Greetings from Wiesbaden/Germany.

Lisa, that pink pen is so cute!😃 It reminds me of a pinkish brown lipstick that was a popular color back in the day.
My first fountain pen was a Pilot Metropolitan, color purple "F" nib. I still have the pen. Purple is my favorite color.🥰🙃

I have a cross pen and pencil set that my mom bought me when I was probably 9yrs old from an Army Navy store and I'm 55 years old now. I'll never forget how excited I was to get this set.

Hi Lisa and Brian! My first fountain pen was a Sheaffer in clear red plastic with a chrome cap, and a steel fine nib. I was just going into the 4th grade, and my mother picked it up at the back-to-school sale that happened every August. I still have the pen in my desk drawer. The next year I got a translucent blue model with a steel medium nib. I used the red pen through high school, along with various felt tip pens. When I started college I bought what is now called a Lamy CP1, black anodized matte finish, and a fine nib. I was having a little trouble getting it to work, and the guy at the art store I bought it from (who turned out to be a big time pen enthusiast), replaced the standard nib with a 14 kt gold fine nib for next to nothing). It worked perfectly after that! I still have this pen, and it still works!

Good question. My earliest pens have found new homes, so I think the current pen that I’ve had the longest might be a Visconti Van Gogh Pollard Willows that I got from AP maybe 6-ish years ago.

I bought a Sheaffer Targa in 1978 when I started college. I thought that a fountain pen would improve my handwriting so I could take better notes. To my pleasant surprise, my handwriting did get better, and I believe the pen helped me throughout my academic career. I still have the fountain pen and enjoy using it. I would have never guessed that many years later I would be a FP collector. I have the Sheaffer Targa to either thank or blame. LOL!

My first FP is a Retro 51 with mother of pearl before mother of pearl was popular. I bought it when I went to a pen store with a friend who loves FPs. She penabled me! I actually didn't use it for the longest time because I didn't enjoy using it. I didn't know about FP friendly paper. That has since changed and my collection is large. I still have the pen and use it occasionally. Lisa and Brian are awesome! Such a cute story about the care package and pen that Brian sent Lisa 💗
