Amazing designs ... the Lincoln Futura 5:08 survived to become the Batmobile of the classic series of the 60's. What a wonderful time.

It`s weird how even futuristic designs so belong in the decade they were thought of. Great stuff.

Designs were reflective of when America WAS (and believed in) the future. America was the future. We were a different society, we built things and were optimistic: science and technology was number one ...

I remember; I was a young kid and remember when "Americans could do it all." Now, we're mostly waiting for somebody else to do it all FOR US! We don't build or create ... we complain.

God I would LOVE to see a glimpse into a universe where these designs caught on in production cars

70 Years later, we ruined the dream car that we promised in the past.

My only objection is that the manufacturer is not identified nor the the production line, Oldsmobile, Dodge, Lincoln, etc.  The GM Harley Earle models are obvious as are some of those from Chrysler, that would put things in perspective.  Otherwise, I liked it!

I really enjoyed this, the background music was a perfect choice, tapped my foot all the way through and made the pictures pass by smoothly.

Oh damn! They all look like some kind of spaceship. With all wingy design and afterburners like rears.

It's shocking in the good sense, unbelievable... many look really from another planet waow, what an era, what went wrong?

So sad mankind didn't pursue this futuristic vision of beauty.

It's amazing how in retrospect one can tell easily from the design cues which cars were to be Chryslers, Dodges, Fords, Thunderbirds, Lincolns Chevrolets, Oldsmobiles, Buicks and Cadillacs. Sometimes there was no guessing simply because the cars had been badged.

Thanks for including the '63 Chrysler Turbine. While most concept cars are one-offs and may not even be operable, 50 Turbines were made and driven on the roads.
The Citroën DS 19 of 1956, facelifted in 1968, and the Citroën SM, production beginning in 1969, qualify as concept cars yet were produced and sold: over 1.7 million Ds and over 12, 000 SMs.

This is awesome. Thanks so much for making & sharing it. Its lost history & lost dream cars too. Just great.

Thanks for posting! Have not seen many of them before. It was great to see so many that were SO close to the actual production model, just minus a trunk fin or long sweeping roof line. :)

These cars are amazing. Any one of these would turn heads going down the road. My favorite is the 1955 Lincoln Futura which was pictured three times here. That car became the Batmobile in the 1966 Batman TV series starring Adam West. My most favorite TV car ever.

These are mouth watering works of art. I would love to drive any one of them just to stop traffic all around me and see everyone's jaws drop to the floor.
