Considered by many to be the first psychedelic song ever recorded.

Underrated song by The Byrds in spring of 1966.

Thanks for the tune and its lyrics. Many of us thought these words were just in our heads. "Some laughing. Some just shapeless forms. " It's real! xxxooo

I was just 12 when this came out. Loved it then and still love it now. My favorite lyric was “Sidewalk scenes and black limousines.” I read that David Crosby contributed it.

They left off the last line of the song as written by Gene Clark.
"All alone, All alone, And they were just stoned, eight miles high"

There are a finite number of truly trippy songs that remain grounded in reality. This made for a small simple 125ug trip. Your first time...

This is the American's Beatles. Deep songs as this one are why they earned that monicker. Just harmonizing on the lyrics vibrates the whole body with their special magic. Singing along, standing alone, is its own experience. Laconic and cathartic, you feel the stress melt from you.

IM ONLY 53.I DIDN'T HEAR THE ORIGINAL 45 SINGLE MY OLDER BROTHERS FRIEND HAD, UNTIL ABOUT 1981.RIGHT AWAY I KNEW THAT NO MATTER WHAT SONG I WOULD HEAR IN THE FUTURE, THAT THIS WOULD ALWAYS BE ONE OF THE COOLEST SONGS I WOULD EVER HEAR.

This huge hit was one of the few big hits that was very good. They're often "Commercial Fluff". This one isn't. I love the lyrics to this one too.

Had a dream this song last night. Was 12 when it came out. Did some research and it said this was the first psychodelic song. Is that true? If so, happy b day to something new. Makes me want to dance in Golden Gate Park. I'm a Californian

Golden Earring, a dutch band, has a great cover. About 20 minutes.

This was said to be about flying above Heathrow Airport.. perhaps the reference to the "rain gray town" London I would think. Lead guitar inspired by John Coltrane.
