Magic 2014 - Early Build - 'Deadwalkers'

We are taking a look at the "Deadwalkers" deck, which is what I would call a refined version of the "Ghoulkeeper" deck from Magic 2012. It has less fat and way more meat... dead, resurrected meat that is.

You're right.. I was thinking about the 3/2 guy with first strike. I think I'm gonna try out siding in the cats instead of the 1/1 butchers.

Use vampiric tutor to put a card you want on top, the use sign in blood to draw that card and 1 more card. You can use vampiric tutor on your self. Its 3 mana but if you really need a card its ok.

I excluded all +4 CMC cards, reduced the number of lands to 22, and the deck runs like a dream.

Only reason I'd want to bring Mutilate was to deal with AG, and perhaps Sliver Hive. Aside from that, I think it's more detrimental to your side... I guess unless you build your deck around it.

I play the cats too mult, they're great to sac and bring back and make for great scary blockers. Also i love Pet Semetary.

How so? Does Vampiric Tutor say target player? If not, you're basically paying three mana, four life, and spending two cards to draw two cards. Maybe I'm missing something.

Nice build. But you should take out the butchers and put in the cats. I run all cats and it's hilarious how much they hold back my opponent. They're always afraid it'll get something good. Plus they go well with shit bag, I mean flesh bag

I like the effect, but I hate the creature. The cats do too little to warrant me bringing them into the battle. The Butchers are a little slow, but man do they do work, when they hit the board.

Well to me butcher ghouls aren't quite as good as cats. I've tried both methods and the cats always came through for me. It screws with the opponent so much. As for mutilate, it is nice against alot of decks, especially Jace, but yea, I don't run it because killing your zombies that buff your zombies is bad. Instead I just run all doom blades and tendrils.
