The mini 2 has an overheating issue. Where the battery is in the middle of the power/ESC. board. And in the bottom side is where the main board. And this creates overheating issue.
Mini 3 on the other hand the battery is on the bottom part of the drone body. And this will dissipate heat out not near the main board.
