AUTUMN IS THE BEST! I love reading on a cool autumn night with a good cup of tea.

Book reading snacks - almost always tea, or occasionally another beverage. I like to snack on salted dark chocolate bars, crudite platters with hummus, tortilla chips and salsa, or recently, Pez candy eaten out of my Halloween Bat Pez dispenser.

Pumpkin slice latte, pumpkin pie, and halloween mini chocolate bars! It's not Autumn until the 21st, so I'm crossing my fingers for another set of warmer days!

Hi, in Mexico the favourite autumn snack is the ‘pan de muerto’ literally translated as ‘dead bread’ it is a sweet bread that is only prepared for Día de Muertos which we celebrate on 1st and 2nd of November and it’s unique ingredient is orange blossom. The bread is also shaped as bones, it is quite delicious and at least in Mexico City it is one of the best things of fall season.

I'm going to be the party-pooper in so far as reading snacks are concerned. I eat none. Nor do I want to associate eating with reading. I've done so earlier in life. It never works out well for my waistline / overall health. (It doesn't help that I have absolutely no control of my 'junk food' intake should I allow myself to become addicted to it.) To partly redeem myself, it just so happens that the book I'm currently reading, Colleen McCullough's "Caesar", contains a reference to food at the very place I stopped reading when I crawled out of bed (the sofa, actually) this morning. A female character addresses Caesar. It reads,

"Dinner first. You are not very enthusiastic about food, so I have to get as much of it into you as I can. Roast venison and roast pork with bubbled skin. Crusty bread still hot from the oven, and six different vegetables from my garden."

1. What are your autumn snacking favourites to have while you read?
I can't eat and read at the same time. At most I have a glass of water nearby

2. Show off your most autumnal book stack.
I can't post pictures on my comment

3. Show off your books that have food on the cover.
The closest thing to food I could find is the mate Nafta Super is drinking in Kryptonita by Leonardo Oyala

4. Skim through your current read - what's the first food you come across? Does it sound nice?
The first thing I came across (that I think is food) is acorn-cups. I have no idea what that's supposed to be. From The Canterville Ghost, The Happy Prince and Other Stories by Oscar Wilde

5. What's the nicest meal you've ever read about in a book?
Everything Anna ate in Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

6. Have you ever made a book themed recipe?
does tea count?

7. Tag your friends, and recommend them the PERFECT Autumn book and food combination you think they'll love.
The only book that I read that feels like Autumn to me (and is also my favourite book) is The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. While you read it I would suggest eating chocolate. Why? Because you will need dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins to make it through that book alive

1. Noooo food while reading because the thought of getting anything on my books makes me want to cry. Random drinks are okay, but nothing fancy. Also, pumpkin spice stuff is getting out of hand over here (although I'm not a fan, so maybe that's why, haha.)
2. I think With the Fire on High has a lovely cover, but maybe that's more summery? The Martian is a lovely orange. How about The Crimson Petal and the White? The Immortalists? I'm bad at this.
3. With the Fire on High! Fruit! There's also an apple on the cover of The Crimson Petal and the White.
4. I'm rereading The Devil All the Time (one of my favorite books everrr) before the movie comes out. Flipping open to a random page, they're eating.. fried rabbit. So.. nope. Doesn't sound nice. To me, at least.
5. I have a terrible memory, so I can't think of one right now, but I'm sure mine would also come from a children's book. They're so good at describing food in kids' books as being these rich delicacies, they really dig on the sensory details. Also, I didn't know the Teddy Bear's Picnic was a book, but I used to play the Grateful Dead "Teddy Bear's Picnic" song to my class when I taught Preschool!

GAH! I LOVE THE AUTUMN! But we don't have it here! Will I probably still do this and just pretend that I have it? Maybe.
