In the early 80's I was the flight operations NCOIC there. In fact I had the double white green rotating beacon replaced as well as the ramps and aprons. My office was right under the old tower. I also thought of and coordinated the first ever egress training for both the Local Nationals and Americans. One winter I had fun doing donuts on the flight line in my 260Z which I sold to Frizengers. Oh the memories.

During WWII this was home of the Hinkle Factory and where the ME 262 (first operational jet) was made/flown.

I moved from there to Mannheim to be the NCOIC at Cole AAF also with the 56th Avn./70 Trans. where we flew Beechcraft Barons and King Airs.
