Sr. Fröst. Gosto muito de ouvi-lo nesses vídeos. É brilhante e talentoso. Deve ser muito famoso, com certeza uma celebridade da Arte.

Dang! Where's the famous high C4 at the end? Martin was fantastic on that tune! I am sure Artie would have loved this rendition. I miss the high C4 ending! It's not what I'd call Jazz but good enough! Bravo, Martin!

Hello. I'm his fan from Japan. すごいという言葉じゃ言い足りないけど....神の領域だわ

Aww I wanted to hear him do the lip slurs in the first part. Technically very impressive but I don't really get the "swing" feel from him. I would have personally liked him to play it closer to Artie Shaw's recordings of it but this interpretation is cool too.

I love Martin Frost... but this was no swing and a miss. I think he is one of best clarinetists today, however, this performance missed the nuance and warmth of the genre.

Fantastic performance! Where can I find the complete video of this concerto?

honestly martin frost was fine doing this piece i felt like he didn't have enough swing. I play clarinet and drum set and the drum set "solo" in the beginning of this video i played that same beat during my jazz concert.

The ending was bizarre. What happened to the octave jumps building to the high C?

In my opinion. Original & much more older Artie Shaw’s clarinet has much better sound and better feeling :)

That's some really nice smearing from Martin Frost

IMHO Andreas Ottensamer's recording of this piece is better. I feel like Martin was making it a little too hungarian or something whereas Andreas does a really good job of getting an "american" feel.

Nobody of classical players can play this music.... I don't know why are they doing it.. They think this is like a easy gig for them... Also classical audiences don't really generally know and understand jazz music. Jazz its just other lenguage...this is like me as a Serbian trying to speak Japanese... He is a great player but if he wants to play it he should just listen and practise more... Simple
Cheers

His a fine clarinetist, maybe one of the best now, but this performance lacked any trace of Jazz and lacked warmth! I have never heard anyone nail this piece like Artie Shaw, certainly not Frost.Classical yes, Jazz no way!

Jazz is way, way, way different than classical/technical music...IMO.

Martin you’re one of our greatest clarinetist ever but when it comes to jazz leave it the jazz cats. You play to much like a classical musician. Stiff stiff!
