Traxxas Tqi radio review 1

As a regular guy, not a hopped up racer I give my review on the new Traxxas Tqi 2.4 radio with iphone dock. I love the easy to use interface and it feels like a great radio. Because of the lack of actual reviews I decided to film this and post it for us regular racers. No offense to any of the hardcore guys... I still watch their vidoes too.Jang being one I enjoy the most! I also show how I got around my stuck button on my vxl-3s... ghetto style! Be sure to watch part 2 if you enjoyed this one.

Thanks for the info on this radio. For the casual racer who doesn't want to spend $300+ on a radio setup with telemetry, this seems to be the ticket. I didn't even realize all the regular settings for the radio would be handled on the iPod - that's really makes it nice. I'm more than content w/ my TQ radio and liked it so much I use one on my SC10 too. And since I already have a 2G iPod touch, this seems to be even a better value.

yes. The radio still has the base setup (by flashing lights) for those of you who don't have an iphone or ipod. They make one without the dock (that you can add to later as well) so you can get a basic version cheaper. Those of course will not have the program ability options you would find while using the apple product.

I liked your review, can't find more reviews and how to videos on the radio .... I'd thought there would be a lot of videos on this radio. I'm not hard core either just a regular guy getting into the hobby.

The radio feels pretty well balanced. Not too much heavier than the stock 2.4 but way less than a lot of those more expensive radios!

That damn button just started sticking on me also.
Though I'm putting a Castle SCT ESC and can in my face modified Pede next week also.
Just got this base and popped in my iPod. Realized that I needed to spend a few more bucks for the extra wires.
All in all, this was worth it

It has a 5-Channel Receiver with 3 Telemetry Ports. Meaning you have 2 channels (for steering and throttle) and the other 3 come in for telemetry to the iPhone or iPod Touch

I forgot to ask you in my other comment ! Is that a 2 channel radio or 4 channel ? Because to use the Sensors wouldn't the 4 channel radio be needed? I wonder if the new E Revo brushless mamba monster is shipped with the 4 channel instead of the 2 channel. Or would I just need to swap the receiver to a 4 channel and be able to use the TQi TX that came with a 2 channel receiver ?

It does not work with the new iPhone 5 unless you get the adapter. Because apple changed to a new cable interface adapters are now needed. I have not tested it yet since I got the 5. I kept my old 3GS and currently use that still.

are these reciever pretty much like the spektrum recievers where they decifer ther own seperate signal from any other racer? I have the spektrum from when i had a drifter but have now just bought the stampede vxl.

In reference to the TQi radio: so the radios that are being shipped with the Traxxas cars and trucks except for the Summit are all 2 Channel only ? I'm looking to buy a new E Revo Mamba Monster it comes with the TQi radio but it's 2 Channel I think ? Do you know anything about that? If so I'd have to buy a while new 5 Channel TQi radio so I can use the sensor options once the docking kit is hooked up. $700 car and Traxxas couldn't include the 5 Channel radio!

Oh and honestly the only important stuff you really want or need is a temp sensor and RPM sensor.

My review to this TQi nonsense transmitter is "FUN IF IT CAN RUN" Mine is just dead no green light after 3 weeks. Wait until you have no green light and make another review of it.
