"That day, the task of digging the ditch commenced. Muslims had borrowed various digging tools from the Banu Quraizah, such as spades and large axes etc. Furthermore, the Holy Prophet (sa) had assigned the digging of each side of the ditch to a [specific] tribe. The Holy Prophet (sa) had divided the companions into groups of 10 and assigned to them an area of approximately 40 yards."
