As an alternative if you dont have neutral greys, thunderhawk blue and russ grey work very nicely, as they also contrast the baal red beautifully

This looks awesome, I love it. I’m looking for ideas for painting red corsairs and this would be perfect, just need less red and a bit of gold trim. Will definitely consider this!!

There's actually a World Eaters warband which uses black trim called "Black Feast" (they're cannibals), but I can't tell if GW wrote the lore to fit the paint scheme back then or if it was vice versa haha

For the black trim, have you considered picking out the parts of the trim that will remain black in a very dark metallic before the dry brushing step?

How did you shade the red armor parts? I apply the baal red and since it's one of those contrast paints that doesnt really shade the minis, how do you get the recesses darker without darkening the armor too much?
