Totally agree. But best crypto debit card *IF YOU NEED ONE* in my experience is the OG, the Plutus card. Spend fiat and get up to 8% cashback in PLU ... sell those tokens at the top of the next cycle and the discount on spending from now gets insane. Best thing is that the tokens you hold to get perks don't need to leave your private wallet. Can be topped up via a dex, depending upon where you live. Stay away from any card that asks you to lock up your tokens on their platform.

I have the coinbase crypto debit card. I just spend usdc with it and collect the 4% cashback . I like that I can turn the card off when I am done with my purchase

Yes, the crypto-linked debit cards require KYC.... at least for the actual physical card (a US resident can get an online-only debit card... paid for with without any KYC). But this can still be a lot better than going to a crypto exchange and cashing out into dollars, and then moving the dollars into a bank account. For one thing, by going through an exchange, there is a guarantee that they'll report the transaction to the IRS, whereas with a crypto-linked debit card, they may or may not report to the IRS.

Great video for those new to crypto. As for FTX specifically, in the US (FTX US), the KYC for the card is irrelevant because you had to do KYC to setup the account to begin with.

There is some potential risk, I had stored about $2000 worth of crypto in Trust Wallet. I was very positive that no one had any access to the private keys, but I have seen all my crypto getting transferred to some unknown wallet. I was not able to do anything and it all got stolen. So it is quite disappointing.

Mass adoption Problem with cold wallets is HIGH ETHER GAS FEES. Credit cards with no annual fees are still the best. For Americans, why even switch to cumbersome crypto when you belong to the strongest currency and best credit cards. But I totally get it if you're not from the USA, or prefer not to pay taxes. Crypto blockchain doesn't even have privacy. Why would I want to be in a public blockchain?

CBDC are inevitable. Just like most people also use bank accounts which require kyc. CBDC will prob be an addition or extension of the bank account. Crypto onramps & offramps also require bank accounts. There are no on/offramp that will accept over-the-counter cash.

Basically you get all the hassles, take all the risks and wait until governments change laws so credit card companies can go after you when you sign up. You also invite third parties to either look into your finances or give them access to your private information that they can sell to others... hmmmm Not that positive if you ask me!
