Unfortunately just because you have one does not mean they follow it, it really depends on the teacher. Even if the kid tells you they are not following it that is usually not enough proof to do anything about it.

When I had a 504 they (my school district at the time) refused to follow it. I’m thrilled I was able to get my IEP

I’m a freshman in high school with a 504. I get this question a lot. But I enjoy sharing because at first I felt embarrassed. About the time I realized my grades going up I knew it was truly helping. That’s why I share because I don’t want younger kids to feel embarrassed like I once was.

A 504 plan is like an IEP (but only has accommodations, not modifications). They are designed for disabled students (like myself) to get the supports they need. Accommodations are adjustments to the way information is given to the child to even out the playing field (eg. I get guided notes because I can't write enough to keep up in class). Modifications (only on IEPs) affect the curriculum a little bit. Also preferred if your child has medical devices (wheelchairs, feeding tubes, etc.).

Let me tell you something! I have followed and I have un followed many parents with children uner the spectrum. I have two kids of my own with specialneeds, and I just want to highlight that i absolutely love your channel ♥️

Rather then these parents exposing their special needs children's tantrums, rage, sadness, or just documenting situations that i personally feel its not fair to the child to expose those situations. You on the other hand educate, explain, and positively share all your children's challenges properly. Thank you for treating your children as respected individuals.
I adore your strength it really gives me hope, because it is not easy .

This is so helpful. I have had a 504 for years because my parents and teachers helped I was younger so I could learn better in school. I know how to advocate for myself but I also have had a lot of teachers who don’t follow it. They are very similar and it is hard to tell the difference

I have a 504 and when I wish people (teachers) would listen. I could shout as loud as I wanted and it felt like no one was listening. Some people just need a refresher on what is a 504.

SLD= specific learning disability (Dyscalculia, dyslexia, dysgraphia, etc.) is a part of the IDEA categories... You should get resource accommodations with an IEP for a SLD... And, if you have ADHD you can have OHI (Other health impairment) and also get an IEP for that, as well. But, you need to fight with an IDR with the district...you might need an advocate...
