Doogee S61 Pro 'Rugged' Review

The Doogee S61 Pro is branded as a rugged smartphone, so I wanted to see could this be an option for people going to rugged places rather than risk their main phone?

Rugged phones are like a car with an airbag. They help reduce damage IN CASE the phone drops. That doesn't mean that you move around dropping your phone into concrete or submerging it in water all the time. I bought a different doogee in 2020, till now no issues .

You can fix the lag in the screen with the Developer options screen after you unlock it. The night vision camera is amazing I use it allot hunting coyotes here in Pennsylvania and you can change the quality and actually record video in pro mode also found in the developer options, I used my phone scuba diving myself and it performed very well also dropped mine off a 5 story building and it didn't shatter for me at all, but than again I'm not being paid for the review lol

Most "rugged" phone I had was LG V30. My wifr smashed it, and hit it via doors and windows, and slam it to the ground... To brake its glass and slightly concave it.

But it is still working, I play games on it visa USB-C to TV output

That night vision would be very nice when out at night in places without light if you don't have a decent torch

What a pity. I had two Doogee T5, their first rugged smartphones, and the battery died for both, I dropped them open even in the shower and water came into them (I listen to podcasts while showering) and worked like a charm. Drops on concrete from different heights? A million. Not a single scratch. It looks like the quality was lowered in that sense.

Was going to go for this phone, however having seen the screen break with a small drop test i an not so sure now. Previously had a S30 which died (battery) so tested that screen by running over with a 16ton tractor and trailer on conctete(screen down). Which survived. Current S40 is due for an upgrade as volume control is becoming sketchy, that screen is equally robust after a couple of years of abuse. So very suprised this screen broke.

I had a blackview BV 9500 and I literally dropped its at least 20 times even from heights exceeding 2m and the screen never broke ..eventually it cracked when I kicked it accidentally against a door frame which caught it right in the corner of the screen ..I then replaced it with a doogee s96 pro which cracked I think on its 3rd drop from only about 1m

Don't know any other way of contacting you but could you do a test of video quality in apsc mode on my Sony a1, the picture is so much better in 4k unless I am doing something wrong. Also, the 4k picture is better on the a7mk3..

crappy screen is a deal breaker. If the screen can't handle a drop, then they can't call it rugged, since that's what is prone to breaking. It's just like any other phone.

well, the certificates say about 1.5m height, not 4m. Still a bit shame. I think I will get one anyway, because I'm looking for a bit tougher phone with 3.5mm jack. I would buy Cubot King Kong Mini 3 if it had 3.5mm jack, because its so tiny and still tougher than a regular phone. Im doomed to carry a brick size smartphone :/

I'll purposefully submerge my phone but I won't purposefully drop it.

My last phone did a really good job. It survived many splashes of water despite not being rated for it, and handled lots of dropping despite not being rated for it, and my work even gets dusty, sandy, and rough, it held up through all of it.

But after two years it suffered water damage and eventually fell its final time, cracking the screen. Still works, but I felt it was time for a new one given the abuse it already took from all sides.

Very much hoping my Doogee holds up. It seems to be fine submerged into the bath so far. I won't drop it on purpose but when it inevitably does drop I do hope it lives to tell the tale.

Purchase the phone and discovered that it does not absorb impact no the Shell is sturdy but very ridgid SO w it does not absorb shock and the telephone inside the motherboard receive all the power of the impact. Also the Crystal of the screen Will shatter because it's over it's not absorción

One of the reasons I still don't have a 'smart' phone: they are too fragile. Even the 'rugged' ones.
