People may still think she cheated. Whatever the truth is, let's admit that she became the face of women in sports around the world FOR YEARS, and she have developed a following from parts of the world that are really into the sport... Serena may have better skills, no doubt, but I must say that Maria's grit, competitiveness and no- nonsense personality, matched with her stunning beauty reassures sporty women like me that they can still be strong, beautiful, fierce and stunning at the same time while also being true to yourself on how you deal with other people. I still think she's one of the most mentally tough sportswomen out there and I respect her for that. As for the "catfights" outside the court, we all know how women are in a competition, lol

I enjoyed the grunts and will miss that. Maria is my favourite tennis player and I am saddened that she chose to retire being way to young. Your decision alone Maria if you want to retire but please do not retire.

Back in 2004 my dream was to see Maria Sharapova play in person but I never had the opportunity to do so. Now it’s 2024 she’s retired as well and I have grown much much older. I will go to my grave having failed in fulfilling my dream. I have followed her career since she defeated Serena Williams in Wimbledon. I now have a grown up son and a grandson as well. My husband is also suffering from dementia. Ah…the ups and downs of life.
