It’s a predatory hit but as a habs fan I hate to admit Trouba is a master of playing the grey area. He never targets the head but there’s often incidental head contact. But you can’t blame him for him being a force and you can’t bubble wrap the other players, Barron needs to keep his head up and be aware who is on the ice

He's lined up to lay the hit, Barron tries to cut toward the middle of the ice at the exact moment of contact, which lowers his body, making the contact high. You can slow these videos down and not just make assumptions....

Hard to say if this particular hit was legal or not. However, when a player has a history of concussing players season in and season out then you know they've perfected the 'clean' hit to the head. It's done with purpose and skill. Not by accident.

Something being missed with recent kids coming up. I dont know if thats the case here but trouba is right in front of him and he turns into him with zero clue. Someone is failing these forwards. Head was what what made contact first, but its still on the Barron. He is upright when Trouba was in position for the check. Then Barron bends knees and turns face first into it. I dont know how the NHL says this was chest first because its not. But at same time its not dirty.

Gotta keep your head up, trouba did target the chest and Barron bent down at last second so it was shoulder to head.. unfortunate but still clean since Barron lowered his head

As a Rangers fan I didn't see any point in the hit at this point in the game but get used to it this season. Trouba is going to play angry this year after the organization tried to get rid of him.

Well….players are taking liberties by crossing the blue line because they are clamping down on head shots but not on clean open ice hits. Trouba times this and destroys a guy with his head down. Dude is trying to dance into their zone and score. Trouba is like “to hell you are” let that be a lesson to all the danglers who think they can hit a triple lutz while crossing the blue line. This is good for hockey bad for Justine
