This is the gear that I take on every single one of my day hikes. I love every piece of gear mentioned in this video and give it my stamp of approval! If you want to purchase or further research what I use then check out the links bellow:

WHAT I DIDN't MENTION BUT DO HAVE & RECCOMEND:

ADDITIONAL FILMMAKING GEAR:

ADDITIONAL CAMPING GEAR:

What I use for Music - Music Bed
What I use for Sound effects:

It's a pretty good setup but its not PERFECT - however, I still want to show it off and talk through all the items - as too many of us get hungup on gear and don't necessarily realise that we can do pretty well with repurposed items!

My top tip for people wanting to get into hiking but wary about having to spend too much money is just to get started and give it a go. The things that you *need* are boots/trainers that are comfortable and don't give you blisters, and a waterproof coat that keeps the wet on the outside. Pretty much everything else _helps_ but isn't essential, it might make the walk more comfortable or enjoyable but you can usually cope with a cheapo option if you need to. So just see how you go, build yourself up slowly, and work out what _your_ red lines are, which bits of your kit you want to upgrade first, because different people will prioritise different things.

Great to see all your gear, the drone shots are always amazing.

A great video David. Totally agree that kit doesn’t have to always be expensive but investing in the right kit for the the right jobs (waterproofs) is important. Great editing and music choice. I’ve recommended your channel and looking forward to seeing it grow. All the best with your adventures.

I like it!!!! Would you be ok with not using ND filters and instead altering Fstop and shutter to expose properly. I’ve been ignoring the shutter rule of double the frame rate and keeping my FStop between 3.5-8 and it seems to work well.

Could you actually do a tutorial video on how to use the all trail app and how it works whilst walking I'm really keen to get out walk8ng but I'm running out of local trails

My small rucksack was in fact virtually empty, and I could have managed quite well without it. I incline to the view, never before expressed, that a rucksack is not at all necessary on a walking tour. How some can enjoy themselves beneath the weight of their huge, fifty-pound burdens completely passes my comprehension.

I have had expeditions in the Lake District without a pack, and gone short of nothing. I take a light raincoat or a cape, always; but never a change of clothes, nor an extra shirt, nor pyjamas. The clothes I wear when I set off must suffice: if they get wet, it is unfortunate for walking in wet raiment is unpleasant, but they have never failed to get dry afterwards. Pyjamas are, of course, a nuisance at all times and have no saving grace. A pair of slippers is a comfort, and additional socks are essential, but these will slip easily into a pocket.

David, do you need an adapter for the microphone or can you plug it directely in the camera? Does it switch automatically to the external audio source and does the synchronisation fit in hindsight of the pictures? With rarely a clue in the area of viedeography, these are the immediate questions that come in my mind.

Thank you for sharing the experience with your equipement! I appreciate having introduced hiking gears I did not know and which may have the potential improve my standard so far.

Really interesting video. I feel sometimes there's too much snobbery in hiking gear and beginners feel preasured into buying kit they can't afford. My go to hiking t shirts are cheap primark ones (eek not good)

Underwear? Socks and Shreddies? Junk wise and chaffing? I notice no Trekking Poles, would they not help the knees? Camping you would save weight using a Trekking pole but the Tents are very UL these days. I'm an armchair hiking just starting out so the questions may seem strange but they will help me. Thank you. Addendum, one pair of socks or 2? As a Nurse the only addition I would add to the First Aid Kit would be Super Glue or a cheap brand. That special glue they use in Hospitals? Yeah, Super Glue but they call it Tissue Adhesive. Trust me, Nurse of 25 years.😉👍
