Date: 19 May 2018
Service: 13.05 Dublin Connolly to Sligo

The 29000 Class is a suburban diesel multiple unit operated by Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail. The DMUs were built by Spanish manufacturer CAF in 2002. A second batch of 29000 units were built in 2005. The four car trains consist of two driving cars DM1 and DM2 and two standard carriages MDT and MT. The maximum length of train permitted is 8 carriages by coupling two sets. As of 2017 the trains have been painted in two liveries. All units were delivered in the navy, white and bright green Commuter livery. From 2014 the units started to be painted into a new two tone dark green livery, unofficially know as the 'Green Goddess' livery. As of 2017 the trains operate Commuter services in the greater Dublin area alongside the 22000 Class Intercity Railcars. The routes operated are as follows: Dublin to Drogheda/Dundalk, Dublin to Maynooth/Longford/M3 Parkway, Maynooth/Drogheda to Bray and Dublin to Wexford. The trains also operate a limited number of Intercity services from Dublin Connolly to Rosslare Europort and Sligo.

Absolutely ridiculous that they are still being used on intercity routes

Nice. I haven't seen a 29000 class head up to Sligo in a while but they used to run Sligo services a good bit a couple of years ago. Before the 22000's, 29000's ran the Sligo services
