5 Most Overhyped Overrated Car mods. Stupid Car Mods, Best Car Mods, First Car Mods, Mods we all love! Okay now we can actually begin this description. So Wheels are cool and all, but just like with shoes, I don't think I'll ever be super into them. I'm too busy shredding some gnar, dropping a sick line, while doing a steezy flip. Did that sentence make you wince a bit? Yeah, I told you I was a Skater Skater. Tony Hawk Pro Skater doesn't teach you to talk like that, now does it? Being a Punk teen spending time at Skateparks to stay away from their Tiger Parents, that's what makes me say stupid stuff like that. Obviously, we were all wince worthy when we were teens, don't even lie. If you're a teen watching this video right, God have mercy on your soul. You'll get there someday. You'll be 27, graduated possibly married then in the middle of the night you'll wake up and think of that stupid thing you said to your crush in Sophomore year during Homecoming. Sorry for putting that image into your head. You should probably scroll back up and finish the video huh?

Indian here, can confirm that my grandmother knows how to drive manual and honestly she's probably better than me at it

As a manual enjoyer, I don't give a poo what type of transmission you drive i just like throwing the shifter around. My coworker the other day said, "every time you drive that car you have a huge smile on your face." and that's all we want right? Smiles per gallon.

I get automatics are fast now. But can we all agree that CVT with fake shifts are the worst option?

Big issue with burble tunes people don't think about. They make the car community look more like antisocial knobs. Burble tunes actively damage the reputation of car people.

For the Xenons, I'm sure for some people it was just a case of "haha light go blue" and well, most LEDs coming stock on a modern care are already using a colder color.

And... truck owners and Audi drivers will be insulted, but there's also something called TOO BRIGHT

Now I can finally say "I own both a manual and an automatic car. I like them both." Granted said cars are polar opposites (1990 Miata and '66 Thunderbird, T-birds were only available with 3-speed autos), but their transmissions both suit their personalities perfectly. One thing I'll say about the three-speed "slushbox" that so many car guys vilify for being slow and inefficient, is that having fewer speeds lets the engine rev longer so you really get to hear the fun V8 noises, and then when it finally shifts it's like the whole car just relaxes as the RPM suddenly lowers. It's strangely calming.

I feel like a lot of car guys get stuck in a niche and focus on a very particular vehicle type, and don't realize it can be really fun to experience and appreciate polar opposite ends of the automotive spectrum. I love my small darty manual sports car and my big heavy automatic lux-o-barge. They're fun in completely different ways and the contrast between the two highlights what makes both of them special.

I think anyone who has been blinded by trucks with LED headlights can attest that they're much brighter than halogens or xenons.

Italian here @BladedAngel

I drive a manual and the company where I work produces a shitload of automatics. I personally don't see the issue: you want better gas mileage? Go with an automatic or learn how your manual behaves (it's still a bit worse but you can get close). You want an extra safety measure by using engine brake when you need it? Drive a manual. I don't understand Americans and their elitism for this kind of stuff... it should be common knowledge.

Manual transmissions didn't become popular in the United States until after the release of the first Fast and the Furious movie. Back in the day it was more of a class thing than performance, convenience, or efficiency. Before 2001 manual transmissions were seen as the "Poor man's option" here in the US. This isn't the first threat of a manual transmission extinction either. There are some articles and videos about the auto industry moving away from manual transmissions during a similar situation happening all the way back in the early 2000's. IIRC, one of the articles/videos is from a British publication and it's titled something like "How America Killed the Manual Transmission".

6:43 This is how a feel about vehicles in general. I want to use them as i want, i really don't want to get obssesed with re-sale value.

GTI owner and even I hate the burble tune. Also even though I would prefer an automatic transmission in my MK6 being able to shift through the gears is fun in my GTI.

Are autos faster... yes.

Are manuals cool... yes.

Do I love my manual... yes.

But I admit it's a preference and not a better way.

I am European and I find it strange to hear that manuals are "overhyped", that sounds to me like saying that ICE are overhyped. Maybe this is what we will hear when EVs become mainstream? Since more efficient, quicker and less engaging can be attributed to both automatics and EVs.

PPF is also real important in classic cars. I had my lancia stratos vandalized (because California) a few days ago, but because I have PPF I paid way less in the detail shop (actually I have insurance that covers all physical damages so I didn't pay anything).

as someone who rides as well i think the main reason bikers dont brag about riding manual is because there isnt really much option otherwise. there are few offerings for motorcycles that have an automatic transmission and the weight and complexity they add usually outdoes any good they bring (except for perhaps those with disabilities) and so manual is essentialy the only choice for a motorcycle. and no im not including scooters because i personally class them as a slightly different mode of transport, in the same way i wouldnt talk about vans when talking about cars, even if that analogy doesnt perfectly translate i hope you see what i mean. pretty sure if there were more auto bikes you would still get a demographic of elitists sayiing that manual is better, which for motorcycles is almost objectively the case due to weight savings and simplicity

I mean, there’s a reason paddle-shifters are used in motorsports. Truthfully speaking, for racing aside from drag, having control over the car’s gears still has its place, and it’s certainly for more than just maintaining competitiveness in these sports.

Your car can only judge its shifts on limited information, it can only make decisions based on what’s happening in the moment directly on the car, it doesn’t see track ahead or know what the driver intends to do with it. In other words, pros still need that kind of control over the car to maximize its on-track effectiveness.

Finally someone calling out burble tune boys. I went to a few meets last year and each time my ears were almost bleeding from clout bois in their straight piped GTIs. I had fun trying to explain to my dad, a lifelong enthusiast, why anyone would do that to their car.
