So this is for fun really, but it works... there's an app called Clock Wave that's found on the App Store which is FREE that uses the speakers on your chosen device to sync the time and date.
There is also one for the Google Play Store called JJY Simulator to work on your Android devices so we're all covered unless Blackberry BB10 users :(

You are a genius! What can I say? That app works like a charm. Would never have had any idea how to sync my new watch without your video. People like you are what make YouTube great!

Finally! Signal Received!

My Casio GWM5610U came yesterday July 22, 2022. I ordered from Amazon and I was very exited to test the multiband 6 function.

After manually attempting to get the signal, I kept getting the error message.
I found a video about amplifying the signal by placing the watch on a bicycle or metal large frame and got some L1 and L2 signal and after a few minutes the error message again.

I then tried positioning it facing northwest by a window (facing Fort Collins, Colorado where the signal comes from) and I was able to reach L3 temporarily but then error again.

It was very late, so I tried wearing it overnight to see if my body would amplify the signal and automatically eventually sync (following advice from another YouTube video) but that didn’t work either.

Success came when I stepped outside this morning and sat my watch on a beach Tommy Bahama foldable chair, the watch facing northwest. The watch displayed connectivity with L2 and L3 switching back and forth and after about 4 minutes it finally happened! It felt magical and I’m not sure if I’m going crazy due to the lack of sleep. I hope this helps someone out there.

Worked fine for my Casio GW B5600. I find that if I cast the radio signal to my bluetooth speaker, turn the volume to max and lay the watch on the speaker it works much faster and better.

Thanks for the video. I downloaded a free app from Google Play, tried a few times including my Bluetooth speaker, didn't work, then downloaded "radio watch sync" and the signal was stronger and it worked! Thank you

Much obliged for this great tip! I'm in the Philippines. After failing a few times using the defaults settings of Clock Wave, I changed my IPhone's time zone to HK. Heck, I even changed the "Language/Region" to HK. Again at first, I experienced the same problems like some of those who commented here --- getting the "ERR" message even though the signal level was boosted to L3. I've made at least 10 attempts from 17:00hrs onwards and it all failed. Then the last attempt was made at 15mins before midnight, with no other equipment running (laptop, tv, etc). To my surprise, the darn thing synced!

This just may be a fluke or the emulator somehow boosted the weak atomic clock signal I get outside the house. After all, the Casio manual did state that time adjustments are usually performed between midnight and 0500. So again, thank you for guiding us in into this app my friend.

Great video. Though I am in Singapore, I use HK as the station to sync after i set my home country from SG to HK. After update, i set back to SG as my home city.

Hi all. New to gshock with my rangeman 9400. Very informative video so thank you. I am not here to crash your video. I am in Texas USA and I did some experiment and want to share my result on atomic sync. I was not able to get my watch to sync. I wanted to know if my new watch is broken, so I started googling and doing different tests. Like mentioned I hung the watch on my bike handlebar and got it to sync. What I discovered is that if my watch is placed sideway, it will not sync. If my watch is facing up or down (watch face either pointing up or down), it sync 100% no matter where it is in the house. I have tested this for 7 days placing the watch in different location with watch facing up or down and got atomic sync 100%. I hope this help someone with rangeman 9400.

The Casio Bluetooth watches use a similar system except the pulses are sent via Bluetooth to the watch. That system works well enough if you have a Bluetooth watch. Some watches have Multiband 6 and Bluetooth. In tests there was no difference in the time when synchronised directly via radio signals or via Bluetooth and the phone. This is to be expected as the mobile phone networks across the globe are synchronised to atomic clocks. The dedicated Casio app does compensate for network propagation delays, so at most your watch will be 100mS slow compared to the actual time. Not enough for most people to detect without specialist equipment.
