Thanks this was great. Just in the process of moving the hive back to the original site in my backyard after fence replaced. Used a hand trolley to save lifting as doing it all solo. As you say the hive lock strapping while not absolutely essential makes it a lot easier.

Hi very informative - I’m moving 2 hives about 10 … but down a hill . It’s difficult to move 1 m each time as terrain is difficult- any recommendations?

Much appreciate the demo here. Concern: Is the screen kitchen-cloth breathable enough ?

Can a dolly be used to move hives 300 feet after a trip to the destination? Or would the tilt of the dolly be bad while going over terrain? I'll use a dolly with pneumatic (air-filled) tires.

Is it fine to move my hive at night 30meters with a closed entrance and re open it with grass infront?

I've caught a swarm in my hive which I placed on my verandah and need to relocate it.

It would have been helpful to see what "chalk" or "chuck" you were placing between the frames. Pieces of wood? They'd have to be the perfect size, otherwise wouldn't they fall down in the bouncing of the truck and land on the bottom of the hive?

If I move my hive about 10-15 metres at night with a closed entrance will that be OK? If will they be disorientated?

3 meters is ok? I thought it was only 1 meter per day?

Instead of moving bees at night why not block them off at night and shift them first thing in the morning so you are not working in the dark? That's assuming it's not hot during the day.
