Under power management there is also a performace setting you can select: Settings > System > Power > Power Mode > Best Performance

If you're going to disable all Visual effects, I would still recommend keeping the following enabled:
Smooth edges of screen fonts
Show window contents while dragging
Show thumbnails instead of icons
