America's Largest Earthmoving Project?

A new era of American mega projects has emerged, and they all involve A LOT of earthmoving.

This operation will eventually be the home of Scout Motors, which will make EV trucks and SUVs for the American and international markets. To make cars, one needs an enormous building, and every enormous building requires a building pad and adequate drainage. And that's where the earthworks come into play.

Landmark Construction is leading the charge, moving well over 20 million cubic yards of earth on an extremely tight schedule to get the automotive plant producing on time. It's safe to say it's currently the largest civil earthworks project east of the Mississippi, and the scale is dizzying.

This is about the same size of earth moving my dad claims he did with my grandfather when he was a kid helping in the garden.

I love the sped up drone footage. You can't beat watching a group of people that know what they are doing at work. They make it look so easy and elegant.

That time lapse drone footage was one of the coolest shots. I’ve seen in recent memory. It really helped illustrate the process of what Landmark construction was doing out there.

We're moving 47+ million yards on the Fargo Diversion project, maybe worth a look but the project is pretty far along, love your content

You were on one of our jobs Aaron, Rifenburg Construction. We were milling and paving at the time, it was pretty awesome telling my coworkers who you were and what you do and to also look you up on YouTube. I'm loving our new company redesign thanks to your company, THANK YOU, from a blue collar truck driver in the Northeast.

Have worked on some large (what I consider large from 100, 000 cubic yards to 500, 000 cy) earthmoving jobs where we had a fleet of scrapers or a fleet of trucks (rigid-frame or ADTs). But this job's daily quantity of 75, 000 cubic yards of production is just insane. There are a very few jobs in the past in the U.S. like large earth/rockfill dams that are larger earthmoving jobs such as California's Oroville Dam (78 million cubic yards) but not many. Thanks for explaining why they were not using top-down loading in some of the scenes because I saw it being used and then not used. Thanks for sharing this plus kudos to Landmark Construction!! Great production/great narration as well!!

Great video Aaron. Don’t forget the folks that keep all that machinery running. The Fuelers, Oilers and Maintenance Crew.

Love the video, but lose the loud music. Constantly adjusting volume. I'd rather hear the equipment sounds.

Love your videos. You have a very good stage presence and delivery. Continuing giving us this interesting, heavy equipment and industrial work.

Great video! I was on a project in San Diego in the early 1990's that had thirty-six 657E Caterpillar Scrapers working in pairs with nose hooks. Several Cat9 Bulldozers as well. The conditions were near perfect with sandy easy soil and sub two minute round trips. 10, 000 yards per hour. I witnessed one ten hour day where they moved 100, 000 yards. I was a working as a land survey party chief at the time checking the daily volumes. The most amazing thing? The earth moving went on for months and months. If I remember correctly it was 6 million yard project.

A lot of work for a vehicle company that up until now I'd never heard of. Now I'm going to have to look them up. Thanks.

Top loading is not too unorthodox, we do it often mining in Australia. Saves on floor clean ups. Just adds to increased risk but everyone is on the same page. Love the content.
