Deepcool Gammaxx 400 versus the Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED Which one would you use?

These two 120mm coolers trade blows in most areas 4 6mm heat pipes large fin area. Both have been favourites with PC builders and enthusiasts for many years.

For me it comes down to two keys factors - price and how easy it is to use.

Very accurate review, I have the 212 LED with a 1600x, horizontal or vertical is a personal preference but you are so right, mounting out of the pc case is easy but inside the case, a bit tricky, you have to make sure the AM4 retention clip is sitting in the middle otherwise part of the cpu will not be covered by the heatsink.

I own the Gammaxx 400 and I'm impressed! Cheaper than the Hyper 212 and performs slightly better.

The Gammaxx 400 has been a long kept secret among budget builders. I've used it on several Xeon LGA2011 socket builds dating back to 2013 and nothing comes close to its price-to-performance ratio. The CM Hyper 212 is more popular, but the Gammaxx 400 is definitely the superior product.

I just installed a Gammaxx 400 on my 1700x and right out of the box, it was much quicker than the Hyper 212 LED, as with the 212 you have to use their backplate provided and install just takes alot more time lining everything up. I saved a few bucks too and still got a blue LED.

2021 and is still a very useful vid when choosing between budget coolers. This vid led me to go deepcool. Bought the Gammaxx 400 pro which has 2 fans and slightly more fins than the normal variant. Thanks for the video, Mike!

It is 5/2020. I am going from an AIO on my Ryzen 2700 to the GAMMAXX 400 (at least I think). This video has been extremely helpful. I liked this review so much I subscribed. Keep it going Bro.

I have the Gammaxx 400 for my Ryzen 5 2600 @Stock. Temperatures won't go past 65°C even while blowing the cpu with a torch inside a vulcano in the sun.
Edit : upgraded to a ryzen 5 3600 overclocked to @4.25Ghz 1.375V, won't go past 80°/82° while torture testing.
Also didn't mention I'm using Arctic's MX4

Why the 2200G get over 70ºC even with the big cooler?
I mean, I have an old Ryzen 5 1600 with stock cooler and never get over 60 even at full load.
The 1600 is underclocked from factory or what I'm missing?

I've used the Hyper 212 on a couple of builds and never heard of the Gammaxx 400 until recently. Thanks for this video. It convinced me to try the Gammaxx on my new Ryzen 5 build (soon). Hard to believe such a good cooler sells for such a low price.

Minimal difference in the orientation is likely due to the rear exhaust fan.
That will be pulling air from the GPU towards the back of the case a bit more before it reaches the tower, and cooler air from the front of the case through the fins of the tower.

Informative Video. I couldn't find a comparison with the wrath stealth cooler in any other video I was watching.

Is there a way to disable the LED on the Gammaxx 400? The only thing that's holding me off of buying it.

I just got a Gammaxx S40, which looks very similar to Gammax 400- it also comes with 4 copper heatpipes and direct contact at the bottom, but heatpipes are nickel plated. On the other hand- the fan is probably a bit cheaper- the same 12cm one as used on Gammaxx 200T and 300. The big difference, compared to Gammaxx 400/ 212 Evo is the price: here in Lithuania, without any sale, Gammaxx S40 costs just €14.29. That is probably best priced cooler for Ryzen5 overclocking, and for Ryzen 3- there is an even cheaper, two heaptpipe Gammaxx 200T for just €8.5.
